NCCS CEO Shelley Fuld Nasso Discusses Cancer Survivorship Issues On “Great.com Talks With…” Podcast
NCCS CEO Shelley Fuld Nasso recently discussed how we can improve cancer survivors’ lives with Emil Ekvardt, founder of Great.com, on an episode of their “Great.com Talks With…” podcast.
Cancer survivors often face long term debilitating effects from cancer treatment such as: fatigue, cognitive issues, depression, and anxiety. Patients need as much help and support as possible to readjust and thrive after their cancer diagnosis.
Shelley explained that part of the solution lies in patient-friendly Survivorship Care Plans. These should involve the practical details patients care about the most, such as the key steps in their treatment timeline and when they should call their physician. She also discussed several NCCS programs, including Survivorship Champions, which is designed to help clinicians and researchers understand common issues patients face during survivorship.
