NCCS Urges the Supreme Court of the United States to Protect the Rights of Individuals with Medicaid Coverage
Today, the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS), along with partner organizations, filed an amicus curiae brief with the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) in the case of Medina v. Planned Parenthood. The brief highlights the critical importance of Medicaid in disease prevention and treatment, as well as extensive research showing a strong link between access to Medicaid and improved health outcomes, with an emphasis on the critical role Medicaid plays in rural areas. The brief includes original research published by the American Cancer Society and underscores the importance of patients being able to enforce the right given to them by the Medicaid Act to choose their own medical provider by using the civil rights law 42 U.S.C. Section 1983 (Section 1983).
