Event Announcement: Attend An Evening for Cancer Survivors & Caregivers in San Francisco on January 14th
A special event for cancer survivors and caregivers will be taking place on January 14 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. An Evening for Cancer Survivors & Caregivers is presented by ASCO and the Conquer Cancer Foundation in collaboration with CancerCare, Cancer Support Community, LIVESTRONG, and the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS).
This unique event is an opportunity for cancer survivors and caregivers to connect with survivorship experts on a wide range of issues and concerns important to them. The panelists will include both physicians and cancer survivors. The evening will begin with a networking reception, followed by an interactive discussion from our panelists on topics, including:
- The importance of care coordination throughout the continuum of survivorship
- The role of the primary care physician
- Coping with fear and anxiety
- Caring for yourself after cancer
- Working toward a healthy lifestyle
This educational networking event is free of charge and open to the public. Please share this special event with your patients and colleagues and encourage them to RSVP by January 7.
Fitzhugh Mullan, MD, co-founder of NCCS will be the keynote speaker at the Survivorship Symposium taking place on January 15th-16th. Dr. Mullan has been a leader and pioneer in cancer survivorship for over thirty years, and is currently Murdock Head Professor of Medicine and Health Policy, Professor of Pediatrics, and Co-Director of the George Washington University Health Workforce Institute. This unique collaboration among the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Physicians, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology will provide information about survivorship issues that both primary care physicians and oncologists are faced with throughout the cancer care continuum. The Symposium represents an innovative approach to education and patient care.
