Cancer ‘always in the back of my mind’ for 3-time survivor
NCCS volunteer and Super Advocate, Jasan Zimmerman, is featured in a CNN Health article about childhood cancer survivors.
The article references a new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association that finds that survivors of childhood cancer are at increased risk of dying of second cancers and circulatory diseases 25 years or more after their diagnosis. Some details were missing from the study, which followed survivors who were treated between 1940 and 1991.
Jasan’s candid remarks and memories from two of his three bouts with cancer serve as a reminder that even though cancer has always been a part of his life, he chooses to maintain hope and thrive in all aspects of his life.
