NCCS Applauds U.S. Supreme Court Ruling Upholding Key Provision of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship applauds the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in King v. Burwell. In a 6-3 decision authored by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., the Supreme Court upheld tax credits in federal exchanges to help low- and middle-income individuals purchase health insurance, a key provision of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has helped cancer patients and survivors to access health insurance through federal and state exchanges, and subsidies are essential for many individuals to be able to afford their plans. NCCS advocates for access to the best care possible for all people with cancer, and access to affordable insurance is essential to quality cancer care.
