POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to NCCS’s CEO, the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is a critical leadership role responsible for cultivating, managing, and growing relationships with corporate sponsors, industry partners, and foundations. The position focuses on identifying new funding opportunities, managing grant applications, and fostering long-term partnerships to support NCCS’s mission. Responsibilities include:
Corporate and Foundation Partnership Development
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with corporate and foundation partners to secure financial support for NCCS’s work.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities with industry and foundation partners in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, and cancer research sectors.
- Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team to develop strategic partnership proposals and presentations for prospective corporate and foundation funders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all corporate and foundation partnerships, ensuring timely communication, reporting, and stewardship.
Grant Management and Proposal Writing
- Lead the full grant lifecycle, from researching potential funders and drafting grant applications to managing submissions and post-award reporting.
- Develop and maintain a calendar of grant deadlines, ensuring timely submissions and reporting.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information and data for grant applications and reports.
Relationship Building and Stewardship
- Establish strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including corporate sponsors, foundations, and government agencies.
- Manage donor recognition and stewardship efforts, ensuring that all partners are acknowledged and engaged through ongoing communication, events, and impact reports.
- Organize and participate in donor meetings, presentations, and events to promote NCCS’s work and increase visibility among funders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with NCCS’s program, communications, and policy teams to understand organizational priorities and align funding opportunities with programmatic goals.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of funds received from corporate and foundation partners.
Travel and Representation
- Represent NCCS at conferences, industry meetings, and events to build relationships and identify potential partnerships.
- Travel up to 10% of the time for meetings and events, as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND RELATED EXPERIENCE
Education: Bachelor’s degree minimally; a master’s is a plus.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate and foundation relations, nonprofit fundraising, or similar roles, with a strong focus on grant writing and relationship management.
- Understanding of patient advocacy; ideally knowledge of cancer survivorship.
- Proven track record of securing significant corporate sponsorships and foundation grants.
- Experience working with industry partners in health care, pharmaceuticals, or cancer research is highly desirable.

- Skilled in grant writing and proposal development, able to clearly and persuasively articulate program goals and impact.
- Strong ability to engage and influence high-level corporate and foundation executives.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with a focus on detail and handling multiple projects effectively.
- Proactive in networking to identify and secure new corporate and foundation funding sources.
- Effective communicator, capable of crafting tailored, compelling proposals that align NCCS’s mission with funder goals.
- Adept at customizing messaging to fit the unique language and values of funders.
- Proficient in CRM systems for data management and tracking grant relationships.
- Able to anticipate funder priorities and leverage opportunities.

LOCATION
The position is remote, but the Director must reside in the DMV area (Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia) to facilitate travel and local meetings.
