In 1986, our founders sought to change the language of cancer, replacing “victim” with “survivor.” They proclaimed that life after treatment matters. They built what is now Cancer Nation.
Now, 40 years later, we carry forward the legacy of the survivorship movement, insisting that every survivor has the right to thrive, not just survive. The right to care that sees us as whole people. The right to dignity, stability, and a system that doesn’t turn its back once treatment ends. These are promises that have gone unmet for far too long.
